IMPROVING INFRASTRUCTURE

When talking to members of our district, the majority feel that it is imperative that we improve and invest in our city's lack of public transportation, pedestrian travel options, and upkeep of critical infrastructure needs.

  • Pursue additional federal funding for critical infrastructural improvements.

  • Seeking innovative solutions to mobility & road design to alleviate traffic congestion.

  • Building an accessible, affordable, and reliable public bus system.

  • Creating safety corridors throughout the city to protect pedestrians and cyclists. This includes creating protected bike lanes, adding and improving existing sidewalks, and improving street and trail lighting for safety.

FIGHTING FOR AFFORDABILITY

Gentrification is becoming a huge issue in New Braunfels, families who have lived in our community for generations are being forgotten and bought out, due to the rise in the cost of living and the unnecessary charges put in place by NBU.

  • Increase collaboration with the county, state, and federal governments to bring in much-needed investments in affordable housing projects that prioritize smart growth and equitable living standards.

  • Ensure our zoning and land development codes are strategically aligned with sustainable long-term growth.

  • Ensure that we hold NBU accountable for raising costs during times of need, and including unnecessary taxes for people who already can't afford to pay in the first place.

  • Call for an analysis of the city's budget to see if it's possible to decrease spending in non-critical areas in order to push for a no new revenue tax rate or a decrease in the tax rate.

PROTECTING NEW BRAUNFELS' GREEN SPACES

Our city's vibrant history and environment defines who we are as a community, that's why we believe that it's important to ensure that New Braunfels practices historical and environmental preservation.

  • Expand greens space and protect trees.

  • Mitigate flood risk through using innovative green infrastructure.

  • Prevent the developers from destroying environmentally sensitive areas.

  • Hold large corporations accountable for their role in in environmental and cultural degradation in our community.

DECRIMINALIZING THE POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

It's time that we stop wasting our tax dollars and NBPD's time on unnecessary arrests. We cannot continue to criminalize behavior that is legal or decriminalized in other parts of the state & country.

  • On week one, I will introduce an ordinance decriminalizing the possession of minor amounts of Marijuana.

WEEDING OUT CORRUPTION IN OUR CITY GOVERNMENT

I believe New Braunfel's deserves a transparent government that works with and for the people! It's important that our local government sets the pace for a responsible and honest New Braunfels.

  • Pursue electoral reforms such as campaign contribution limits, more transparent finance reports, and measures to eliminate pay-to-play politics at the local level.

  • Instruct city staff to make campaign contributions easier to find so that conflicts of interest don't arise during votes.
